Bob Sallinger Conservation Advocacy Award

This annual award memorializes Bob Sallinger's legacy as one of Oregon’s most effective conservation advocates, whose passion, spirit, and commitment led to positive outcomes for birds, wildlife, habitat, and communities throughout the state. 

 

Award recipients demonstrate qualities similar to those that made Bob so effective: fierce advocacy, collaborative spirit, scientific grounding, a willingness to participate in even the most grinding decision-making processes, and genuine care
for birds, wildlife, and habitats throughout the state.

In October 2026, BCO announced its inaugural award winners were Danielle Moser, Associate Director of State Programs at Oregon Wild, and Sristi Kamal, Deputy Director of the Western Environmental Law Center. Danielle and Sristi were selected for their leadership in the successful drive to pass the so-called 1.25% for Wildlife bill in the last session of the Oregon legislature, which raised the state lodging tax by 1.25% and dedicates the proceeds to protect non-game wildlife in the state.
